If ranting about the Parthenon Marbles makes little sense, then the British Museum ought to do the 'right' thing by the world's most right structure by reuniting these fragmented and peerless works of art in Athens, in the superlative new Acropolis Museum.
We've heard all the excuse - the role of the 'universal museum and the problem of 'floodgates' - 'give the Parthenon Marbles back and the whole world will demand everything back' - this assumes all displayed objects in the worlds larger, well known museums are stolen.... surely not!?
What about the simple reason - these sculptures are fragmented.
