Ambassadors of Hellenism

Four professors from France, the United States, Spain and China will be declared Ambassadors of Hellenism in a special event held for the 12th consecutive year hosted by the Athens Prefecture.
Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa will also be among the honorees in recognition of his humanitarian and missionary work.
In the ceremony that will take place at Athens’ Megaron Music Hall today, special distinctions will be awarded to Professor Anthony Snodgrass, chairman, Christopher Price, vice-chairman and Eleni Cubitt, honorary secretary of the British Committee for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles.
Didier Pralon is a professor of ancient Greek language, philosophy and literature at the University of Provence, France.
Ioannis Simonidis is a director, actor, professor and head of the NYU Drama School, founder of the Greek Theater in New York, scholar of Homer, Socrates, Plato, Makriyannis and Cavafy.
Maria del Amor Lopez Jimeno is a professor of classical Greek literature at the University of Valladolid, Spain and teaches Modern Greek Seminars for Spanish speakers organized by the University of Granada.
Luo Jinlin teaches ancient Greek drama and is former vice-rector of the Beijing Central Academy of Drama. He was the first to introduce the ancient Greek theater in China both through his teaching at the Academy of Beijing and by directing ancient Greek tragedy.
