Today Richard Allan MP will launch Parthenon 2004, an all-party campaign to persuade the British Government to make a commitment, by the time of the 2004 Athens Olympics, to return the Parthenon marbles to Greece. Richard Allan MP says:

Parthenon 2004 wants to put the return of the Parthenon marbles firmly on the public agenda.

In the past the debate about the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece has focused on legal and historical wrangles. We should be concentrating on the future and restoring the Marbles to their authentic setting.

The 2004 Olympics would provide a unique opportunity for the British Government to make an imaginative and generous contribution to world heritage. It is a chance for this country to demonstrate just how forward looking, internationalist and progressive it really is.
